Peter George Eliades

PETER (PANAYIOTIS) GEORGE ELIADES passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at the age of 87, in Dunlap, California, with faith and hope in the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even as his cancer progressed, he continued to live out his life with the zest and vitality that always characterized him. May his memory be eternal, and may his soul rest among the Saints.

Peter was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, in May 1939, the son of Hariclia Sarris Eliades of Lowell, MA. and George Eliades, who came to the U.S. via Smyrna, Turkey, an immigrant from Greece in 1921, sent to America for safety following the Balkan Wars. George arrived already speaking five languages and he furthered his education at Boston University Law School. Thereafter, having passed the Bar and becoming an attorney, George moved to Lowell, Massachusetts, to practice law. In 1950, Peter’s father was elected to the City Council with the highest vote count. Shortly thereafter, he was elected Mayor by the City Council, becoming the first immigrant Greek American Mayor of an American City with a population over 100,000.

Peter grew up closely alongside his brothers Christopher (H’58) and George and his dearest cousins. Peter studied and played the piano, wrote and sang songs in French, Greek and English. He performed in the schools and colleges he attended. A football player at Lowell High School (under Coach Ray Riddick). Peter played on offense and defense in all games that he played in, never taking a break. In Lowell, each day before boarding the bus for football practice, Peter would purchase and devour a dozen Honey Dip donuts, saying he was building strength.

Concentrating on biology, Peter received his A.B. degree in 1960 from Harvard College where he was well-known as a superb football player, as a member of Winthrop House and as a member of the Harvard class of 1960. He received his J.D. degree from Boston University Law School in 1963. After passing the Massachusetts Bar, he was expected to join the family law practice. Instead, drawn to the lights on Broadway, he set off for New York City, where he sang and played piano in piano bars and nightclubs throughout the city and appeared in an off-Broadway show. In 1967 he headed west to California, determined to become a star.

However he was captivated by the movement of cycles in the stock market and over the decades that followed, Peter built a reputation as a pioneer in technical and cyclical stock market analysis. He was an early adopter of “1-900” numbers that allowed those interested to call in and pay via their phone provider to hear his intraday market updates. His timing calls earned him Timer Digest's “Timer of the Year” award on multiple occasions (appearing on its cover many times) and in 2001 he received the Market Technicians Association's prestigious Charles H. Dow Award for excellence and creativity in Technical Analysis. He was a familiar voice on financial television for decades, appearing on FNN, CNBC, Larry King and Wall Street Week, and for many years as a guest of Neil Cavuto on Fox. His work was featured in Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities, and cited in numerous books on technical analysis. He owned his own business for more than fifty years, working long hours nearly every day following the markets that he loved and providing market updates to subscribers until just a couple of weeks before his passing.

In 1988 Peter married Marie, and in 1991 the family moved to Sonoma County, California, where their three children were raised. By this move Peter sacrificed easy access to national news centers and studios in L.A. for his family. Peter and Marie became devoted members of the community at Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in Novato, where Peter served for many years on the parish council, including as its president. His daughter, Lia, is a monastic in a Greek Orthodox monastery with her tonsured name, Makrina; George works in financial technology at Bloomberg in New York City; and Father Alexander is a priest at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 2014, Peter and Marie moved to Dunlap, California to be near their daughter. Peter remained a pillar of the community –- serving on the board of the Saint Nicholas Ranch and entertaining any and all visitors with his piano and singing skills. Despite a near- death bout with Covid in late 2020 that hospitalized him for 35 days, he made a nearly complete recovery (thanks to Marie’s super-human efforts) that left folks guessing, based on his appearance, he was 10 - 20 years younger than he was. While he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2024, he was singing, dancing and entertaining at his son George’s wedding party this past December before a rapid decline in his health this summer.

Peter is survived by his wife, Marie (owner /publisher - Zoë Press), the three children, Sister Makrina (Lia), at the Greek Orthodox Holy Monastery of the Theotokos - The Lifegiving Spring in Dunlap, California, George Peter Eliades, (married to Madeleine), and Father Alexander Peter Eliades (wife Laura, children: Panayiotis Maximos, Penelope Irini, and Markella Katherine – whom he adored).
