Robert, born March 9, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, died on November 17, 2020, in Poznan, Poland.
Robert prepared at Milton Academy, Milton, MA prior to attending Harvard College where he was a member of Quincy House and the Harvard Class of 1960. Majoring in English, he graduated with an A.B. cum laude degree. Subsequently, he received an A.M. degree from Harvard (1963) and a B. D. from the Episcopal Theological School.
Robert married Antonina Spisak in 1974 and they had a son, Dominik Mieczyslaw in 1975. Robert was an Episcopal priest and, between 1980 and 1992, a chaplain at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. In 1984, he became engaged in the movement of Alcoholics Anonymous in Poland. In 1991 or 1992, he co-founded Radio Obywatelskie (Civic Radio). In 1992, he co-founded publishing house Media Rodzina in Poznan. In 1999, he received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. Between 2005 and 2014, he was the pastor of the Anglican Church in Poland. In 2014, he received the title of titular pastor of this parish from the Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe. In 2016, he received the Title of Merit of the City of Poznan.
Robert published a Polish version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, an autobiography of Barack Obama, and Promise Me, Dad, a 2017 memoir by 46th U.S. President Joe Biden. In the cases of both Obama and Biden, Robert published their books before they became President of the United States.
