Stanley G. Russell, Jr, of Naples, FL, passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born October 23, 1938, in Boston, MA, the son of Stanley and Martha Russell. He prepared at Belmont Hill School before attending Harvard College where he was a member of Kirkland House and the Harvard Class of 1960. Concentrating in Economics, Stan received his A.B. degree in 1960, followed by an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.
Stan started his exceptional forty-year career with Touche Ross and Company, later Deloitte and Touche, in 1963 in San Francisco, California. He held several major positions in the firm including Deputy Managing Partner–Firm Operations, National Managing Director of Accounting and Auditing Services and Managing Partner of several Regional Practices. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Deloitte & Touche for twelve years. He also served as President of Deloitte & Touche Central Europe based in Prague.
Stan played major roles on the Boards of numerous significant not-for-profit organizations including President of the Pittsburgh Opera and Treasurer of Grace Place for Children and Families in Naples, FL.
Following his retirement, he and his wife Carole moved to Naples. He enjoyed traveling internationally, attending Symphony and Opera performances, spending summers in Annisquam, MA, and cheering for the Red Sox. In his early years he learned to scuba dive, which became a family hobby. He also enjoyed sailing, keeping his boat at Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich, CT.
Stan adored his five grandchildren, taking each one on a special grandparent trip. He will be remembered for his intellect, roles in leadership, willingness to serve others, generosity, sense of playfulness and as a devoted family man.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carole Russell, as well as his children Christopher Russell and Elizabeth Russell (Chad Gronbach), five grandchildren and his brother Robert Russell.
Memorial Services were held at the Naples United Church of Christ, March 8, 2025, and will be held at Annisquam Village Church in the summer.
