Malcolm E. Bowes

Malcolm E. Bowes, 84, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023, in Chicago after a long illness. Born November 1, 1938, he was raised in Fairfield, CT. Majoring in History, Malcolm graduated from Harvard College, where he was a member of Lowell House and the Class of 1960, receiving an A.B. magna cum laude. In 1964, he received an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Columbia Bible College, Columbia, SC.

Malcolm made Chicago his home for over 50 years and had served as a social worker in Cook County. He was a beloved member and leader of the Brynford Bible Church, often serving as assistant pastor, and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Malcolm was also an active member of Gideons International.

Malcolm was predeceased by his parents, Irma and Alfred Bowes, Sr. of Fairfield, and brothers Harold and Alfred Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janice, and son Samuel; his sister, Janet E. Bowes of Bridgeport, CT and nieces Deborah and Lauren.
