Forecasting is anything but a science. Back on July 12, 2021, the second-floor dining room/ballroom and porch of THE Country Club in Brookline, MA were reserved for a Harvard and Radcliffe Classes of 1960 luncheon scheduled for Thursday, October 21, 2021. Is it possible now, in early January of 2022, … or was it possible especially back in July 2021 … to imagine the coronavirus-inspired COVID-19 surges we have been experiencing? Yes, some of our classmates and significant others did opt-out of the October 21 luncheon because of the threat of COVID-19. Yet, forty-five attended! (See list and photos at the end below.) Now, it is impossible even to schedule another luncheon!

Anne Robertson, widow of H’60 classmate Phil, sponsored the luncheon … and ordered up an absolutely gorgeous day. We gathered on the porch for beverages and eagerly conversed. (It had been twenty-eight months since we had last gathered.) The luncheon itself featured a superb ahi tuna salad preceded by mushroom soup with caramelized onion and smoked cheddar toast and topped off with ice cream. Adorning the fireplace in the dining room was the NEW Harvard & Radcliffe Classes of 1960 with the respective college shields (replacing the banner that was lost in June of 2019).

Featured during the festivities was the awarding of a plaque to Harold Loomis “Hank” Morgan III in appreciation of his seminal twenty-three years as the Harvard Class of 1960’s Webmaster. Without Hank volunteering to lead the effort to establish the website, the website, brimming today with a plethora of news, would not exist.
