David Masataka Tamashiro, 80, died on May 19, 2019 in Waipahu, Hawaii. He was born in Honolulu on July 5, 1938 and graduated from Honolulu’s Kaimuki High School before earning an A.B. cum laude in Philosophy from Harvard College where he was a member of Eliot House and the Class of 1960. David also received a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Michigan in 1962. He taught in and retired from the Los Angeles school system. He is survived by his mother Jane Naeko, sister Shirley A. Matsuo, and brother John M. (Betty Jane) Tamashiro and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on July 6, 2019 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, Honolulu.
