Charles Maier has a New Book Published

Charles Maier H’60, the Leverett Saltonstall Professor of History at Harvard, has published “Once Within Borders: Territories of Power, Wealth and Belonging since 1500” (Harvard University Press). Charles explores the fitful evolution of territorial organization. Politically bounded regions whose borders define the jurisdiction of laws and the movement of peoples are an enduring worldwide practice of human societies. Yet, Charles is also especially mindful of the ways in which modern nations and economies may be moving toward a post-territorial world.

There is a captivating interview of Charles by the Harvard Gazette at http://news.harvard.edu/gaze-e/story/2017/01/the-borders-between-us/ and an expanded description of the book @ http://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674059788.
