Reginald Bethune Vaughan


Reginald Bethune Vaughan died March 22, 2016 in San Francisco. He majored in English and was a member of Lowell House. Reginald worked as a reporter for The Boston Globe after graduation. Later he taught English in Istanbul and in Milan under the aegis of the British Council. After moving to California, he taught English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for eight years at the World English Center of the University of San Francisco. Most recently he taught at the Hilltop School in San Francisco, giving remedial instruction to pregnant minors and teen mothers. He was a beloved teacher, a gifted linguist, and an empathetic friend. He leaves no immediate survivors.
