Francis Andrew “Andy” Hart Jr

Andy Hart was born on December 9, 1938, and passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Fresno, CA, at the age of 78. A professor of English at California State University, Fresno, from 1965 to 2002, Andy was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Harvard University in 1960, He was a member of Lowell House, graduated cum laude in English, got his M.A. in 1965 and his PhD. In 1969, both from the University of Utah. He was a professor of English at California State University, Fresno. He taught English in Onitsha, Nigeria from 1960 to 1962.

Andy was an authority on the language of Old English and was a frequent contributor of letters to the editor of The Fresno Bee.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Bette Hart, in 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Erika Hart Hindle and her husband Stuart of Los Angeles, CA; step-daughter, Stephanie Lawrie and her husband Frank of Pebble Beach, CA; brother, Michael Hart and his wife Lauretta, Chicago, IL.; and grandchildren, Carter and Julia Hindle of Los Angeles, CA.
