Robert Nash Gifford

 

Robert Nash Gifford, of Silver Springs, Maryland, died January 5, 2007.

He was born February 5, 1938, in Plainfield, New Jersey, and prepared at Landon School, in Bethesda, Maryland. An economics concentrator and Winthrop House resident at Harvard, he received his A.B., cum laude, with the Class in 1960. He then went on to the Law School and completed an LL.B. in 1963.

He spent most of his professional life in the family business, Gifford's Ice Cream, a chain of old-fashioned ice cream parlors based in Silver Spring, becoming president on the death of his father in 1976; the company went out of business in 1985. The Class has no further information on his career or surviving family.
