Dix McDill Campbell

 

Dix McDill Campbell, 77, of Belmont, died Monday, May 4, 2015. He was the husband of Elizabeth Miller Campbell. He was the father of Benjamin Dix Campbell of Acton, MA, and Jessica Campbell Griffith and her husband Daniel of Wilmington, MA. He was the grandfather of Elizabeth and Jackson Griffith. He was the brother of the late Leeson Campbell of Dedham, MA. He was the brother of Charles Lanning Campbell and his wife Deborah Adams of Colorado Springs, CO. He was the uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Walter Edward Campbell of Nelson, NH and the late Lorraine Leeson Campbell of Cambridge, MA.

Dix graduated from Harvard University and received a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

He started his architectural career working for several large firms in the Boston area. He then opened his own architecture firm, concentrating on educational institutions and private residences.

Dix was an avid outdoorsman, with his interests including fly fishing, bird watching, astronomy, nature photography, kayaking, skiing and tennis. After retirement, he was involved with several conservation projects including the Judith K. Record Memorial Conservation Fund, the Belmont Land Trust, and the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
